Leaders are hungry. We are hungry to improve ourselves, achieve recognition and have an impact on others.

“I just don't understand how we can grow in life if we don't invest in ourselves. That type of hunger, that type of passion, is what keeps us alive.”

In this episode of the Leadercast Podcast, Carlos Gonzalez de Villaumbrosia—CEO of Product School, three-time founder and author of “The Product Book”—talks with us about staying hungry as leaders.

He shares that we often ignore our hunger by believing these three misconceptions:

  • Myth 1: You have to start a business to be an entrepreneur. Nope. You can apply entrepreneurial skills no matter what role you serve in your current job. And if you are starting a business, it doesn’t have to happen all at once. It isn’t all or nothing with entrepreneurship; you can start slowly.
  • Myth 2: You have to be ready first. Here’s what this myth often sounds like: “Before I get started, I need a bunch of money/an MBA or certain degree/a sign from the heavens.” What you actually need is time and the desire to learn.
  • Myth 3: You have to master your pitch. It’s better to show something than to tell something. Your product doesn’t have to be perfect, but it does have to exist.

People who overcome all of these misconceptions have one thing in common: hunger.
