As leaders, we place a lot of focus on how we’re guiding others, but what about how we’re leading ourselves? It’s important to inspire our followers, but it’s just as important to invest in our own paths. At Leadercast Women 2018, happening live in Atlanta on Oct. 12 and broadcast to a location near you, women and men alike will gather to learn from an all-female lineup of leaders who will explain the power and importance of leading yourself first so you can lead others well.
From introspection to action, impactful leadership insights will flow from the Leadercast Women stage. Speakers ranging from business executives and entrepreneurs to civil rights activists and philanthropists have lessons and anecdotes for the audience to take home and use in their businesses and personal lives. Here is a quick preview of what the nine women will share from the stage.
Jess Ekstrom
As a college student, Jess learned that it is possible to make a living and make a difference. She started her own company when she was a junior to provide headbands to children battling cancer—it was a simple accessory that brought smiles back kids’ faces. Now, Jess is CEO of her company, Headbands of Hope, and speaks to leaders around the U.S. about how to be a positive force in business.
At Leadercast Women, Jess will talk about how our past doesn’t define who we are today. As she can attest, a resume can only show so much, and it’s those undercover pieces that make us great leaders.
Marilyn Tam
Marilyn fled her native Hong Kong to escape abuse when she was just a teenager. She rose to a be a top executive at Aveda Corp., Reebok Apparel and Retail Group, and Nike Inc. Now, as CEO of Marilyn Tam & Co., she helps leaders and organizations find and fulfill their true calling.
Marilyn puts most of her focus toward leadership coaching. On the Leadercast Women stage, Marilyn will use her personal story of adversity to help attendees tap into their life’s purpose. She will also pass along lessons from her decades of leadership experience.
Ritu Bhasin
Ritu is an energetic speaker dedicated to helping everyone unearth their authentic selves as leaders. Her amazing story of self-realization and metamorphosis is an example of how we can take control of our lives and truly lead ourselves.
In her session, Ritu will talk about three leadership selves, what they are, how to discover them, and how to use them to build more engaged, inclusive, and productive teams and environments.
Celeste Headlee
Celeste makes creating good conversation her job. As a journalist, she has learned how to ask better questions, listen more attentively and create a better environment for honest communication. She is an expert on allowing people to talk openly and authentically.
At Leadercast Women, Celeste will share what she has learned during her two-decade career talking to people and mastering the art of listening. Her insights will focus on making good conversation in all walks of life, but most importantly, how we use this to be better leaders.
Julia Landauer
Julia strives for success on the track and in the laboratory. A champion NASCAR driver, Julia focuses herself at high speeds and in high stakes, allowing her to make strides in a male-dominated sport. But she also proves her resolve as a science, technology and society graduate from Stanford.
Framing a mindset of success is vital to Julia’s racing career, and it’s a skill all leaders can use to better lead themselves. Julia will teach the Leadercast Women audience how to shape this successful mindset and use it their daily lives.
Clemantine Wamariya
An evacuee of war-town Rwanda, a survivor of refugee camps and a Yale graduate, Clemantine is more than her past. She is now a storyteller and human rights activist. Her memoir, The Girl Who Smiled Beads: A Story of War and What Comes After, has touched countless people and inspired them to overcome the greatest of odds.
Her impactul message details the power of words and her belief in humanity. Clemantine will share her inspiring story with our audience, but more than just inspiration, she will also explain how attendees can use their own stories to flex their “hustle muscles.”
Barbara Bush and Jenna Bush Hager
Barbara and Jenna lived at the most famous address in the United States—the White House—but that doesn’t mean they lived a posh lifestyle. The Bush twins learned how to lead themselves from people who we may think of political icons, but who they call “mom and dad.”
In a question-and-answer session, Jenna and Barbara will share stories about their upbringing, including their grandparents’ stay in the White House and their own time there, and what fellow leaders can learn from it all. They will also share how they’ve used their platforms to impact children around the world.
Molly Fletcher
Molly attacks each and every day with an insatiable desire to succeed. She drove herself to top of her field and now, as the CEO of her own company, she helps others unearth their passion, be fearless and master negotiation. Molly inspires others to find their potential and be brave in any professional field.
A powerhouse sports and entertainment agent, Molly will deliver a keynote on overcoming fear at work and in life. Her own fearlessness led her to the top of the talent representation world, and she makes it her business to help others be game changers in their fields.
